INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP

Inclusion according to dictionary definition is the action or state of being included, or including others in a group and structures. Catalyst research says that inclusion happens when you value both differences and commonalities of others. They also said that when women and men feel included in their work groups or their workplaces, they are more likely to do 2 things: Innovate and be a team player.  The research also talks about the EACH method. As a leader, what can you do to make others feel included? The EACH method gives us the answer. EACH stands for EMPOWERMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY, COURAGE, AND HUMILITY.

EMPOWERMENT: As a leader, you enable direct reports to develop and excel.

ACCOUNTABILITY: You demonstrate confidence in direct reports by holding them responsible for performance they can control.

COURAGE: You put personal interests aside to achieve what needs to be achieved and what needs to be done. You act on convictions and principles even when it requires personal risk taking.

HUMILITY: You admit mistakes, you accept and learn from criticism and different points of view, and you seek contributions of others to overcome limitations.

 TAKE 5 ON INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP
  • Inclusive leadership positively impacts everyone no matter whether you are a man or woman, old or young, or of a particular race, colour, or nationality. Anyone can be an inclusive leader, and everyone benefits from inclusion.
  • Inclusive leaders value the diverse talents and experiences of people they influence or who are on their teams.
  • Inclusive leaders do not stereotype or alienate people they influence or who are on their team, or make them feel reluctant to share ideas that set them apart which can lead to groupthink.
  • When inclusive leadership is effective people feel more included and are more likely to go above and beyond call of duty, suggest new ideas, and ways of getting work done.
  • Inclusive leaders are aware of their own biases and assumptions, take action, and execute the EACH method. Empower your direct report and team members, hold them Accountable, be Courageous, and show Humility as a leader.

25 FACTS ABOUT OBAMA

By   KelseyWarner   on March 4, 2016 Inside Gov As the final remaining year of the Obama administration is well underway, the legacy that President   Barack Obama   will forge in history remains hotly contested.   Conservatives argue   Obama is the “worst president ever” while   liberals have claimed   he has “done more good for this country than any president before him.” He likely will not play the role of a “lame-duck” president, as the administration has yet to slow down. Obama currently finds himself in the middle of a   heated standoff   with the Republican-led Senate to fill a Supreme Court vacancy. He still pursues a workable   plan to close GuantanamoBay , one of his 2008 campaign promises. As his term nears its end, the passionate, vocal opinions on both sides of the political aisle may reach their crescendo as his legacy becomes ripe for interpretation. When reflecting on Obama’s time in the White House, the f...

7 FACTS ABOUT PRIDE

I want to talk about the issue of pride as regards to us as individuals. Pride is something we exhibit in our day to day lives, but nobody would agree that he or she is proud. But I would want us to know that at certain times in our lives we have shown pride.  Pride goes in two ways, you may either attribute it as a mark of honour to someone you love or yourself. For example "When a husband is proud of his wife, or a father is proud of his son who graduated with a first class honours" and many other examples I can cite. People can also be proud of themselves to boost their self confidence. For example: someone can be proud of been single, or someone can be proud of been fat just to knock off negative views and opinions of people towards those that are fat. The other way is when the person is full of himself/herself, super imposes, boozy, dominarian, arrogant, boostful. rebellious, egocentric and full of self justification. This is where the problem lies about p...
