He had known her since they were
children, they attended the same secondary school, they were the same age but he
was 3 weeks older, they grew up in the same neighbourhood
and they separated when they grew up. After several years they came across each
other in a church in the neighbourhood where they grew, he was the assistant to
coordinator in that church and she was a new convert who was convicted by the
Holy Spirit and brought back to grace. She was not so strong in faith but he
was and he became her strength, he groomed her in faith until she became strong
but not very strong like him.
She had enjoyed life before returning
to her childhood neighbourhood church, moving from one man to another, buying
the kind of things she needed and living big. She came to know God more in this
church and became a changed person but after one year eight months she slipped
back to the world because of challenges. She did more despicable things than
before she became a Christian, and when he realized that she has fallen out of
faith he picked her up and restored her to faith.
Along the line he received a witness that
she was his wife, he subjected the feelings to prayers and counseling’s from
his mentors and they all saw God’s leading. Then he started a relationship with
her and was passionate of building her up to the level of been a pastor's wife.
He told his pastor (coordinator of the church) about their relationship but
there was so much envy and hatred against her even from the church because of
the kind of life she had lived and because they felt she did not deserve him.
They kept on gossiping and slandering their relationship before their coordinator
until the coordinator became confused.
One year into their relationship he
proposed to her and she accepted and they became engaged. He met the coordinator
and told her he would love to marry her, she (coordinator) welcomed the idea
and was really happy. He was waiting for the other processes to kick off that
will proceed to the marriage, only for him to be told by the coordinator that he
will be going on a fast to a distant branch for a while in prayers for the
marriage, saying that the devil wants to fight him through his marriage. He
thought it was few days’ prayers and a short visit, but they kept him there for
more than one whole year against his will refusing him to return.
Her patience ran out as thoughts of
backsliding and anger over the coordinator sets in. She had gone through a lot
of pains, heard so much gossip from brethren in church, been put under pressure
of marring another, and she was in a lot of financial pressures and men were only
willing to offer her help if she could sleep with them; she was so all alone
and could not deal with it because the one who strengthens her has been taken
far away from her.
But she was stubborn and sometimes
doesn’t take the advice he gives her. She acts desperate sometimes like one
whose time is ticking away and he tried to calm her down because she is still
very young and beautiful and have nothing to be afraid of. He had given her his
word but she could not trust him enough because she was afraid they would not
let her marry him, so she kept her alternatives alive.
Within that year all her friends who she
thought she would get married before them all got married remaining only one.
She mounted pressure on him and because he did not what to rebel even though
they were holding him unjustly, he told her to be patient. She went on to see a
prophetess who added to her confusion and she landed it on him; and not able to
handle her confusion he told her not to communicate him again for the now so that
he could flow in his pastoral duties over there.
At the beginning of the New Year the
last of her remaining friend got engaged and she lost it on him through a text via
facebook messenger. She told him to forget about her that she has a new boy
friend all the while they had not been communicating although they just broke
up but she still loves him, she had been sleeping with different men and she
knows she has failed God but she is not interested in the marriage any more.
She said all her friends are married and he has failed in his promise to marry her,
she said she was no longer interested in marring a believer like him, she was
going to marry an unbeliever and go back to her formal life.
He replied back to her reassuring her
that if only she can trust him and believe that he is coming to marry her, he
doesn't care if she slept with other men, he was willing to forgive her because the
devil was after her soul through all these trials, but she was fed up and she
broke up the engagement. He had no choice but to let her go, he kept crying not
because he could not marry her but because the devil had won a child of God
over because of the attitude of her brethren and pastor in church.
Her patience ran out although she still
had enough time to stand by him because she was just 31; she left him all alone
and doubled his emotional pain with a heart break. He knew this war would come,
that the devil will contend for the faith which was given to her and had told
her about it but he was afraid if she would be able to stand the test of time,
but she promised she would, and when the war got tough she left him all alone
in the battle.
