Some people say love is
blind, some say theirs is not blind but sees, others say it is either blind or
not blind or it is partially blind. The fact remains that love has its own
definition to individuals depending on who they decide to love. Our definition
of love is dependent on who we are in a relationship with and also dependent on
how much we love that person. So when you say love is blind or not or it’s
partially blind, it goes a long way to tell your love history.
I have never seen love
this blind till I came across the story of a man who married a woman that he
loved very much. He was a successful business man who has chains of business
within and outside the nation. So he came across this lady one day at the
airport while coming back from a business trip, they happened to bud the same
flight going back to the same location where he resides and as well the lady,
and fortunately for them they sat on the same roll. A long the line they began
talking, the discussion went on until the flight landed, after been checked out
of the flight they exchanged contacts and bided themselves goodbye.
They kept communicating
on the phone for one month until they met again, they hung out a few times and
both discovered they were so much in love but kept in under control, but after
a short while, the man started expressing it with expensive gifts of cars, jewelleries,
gadgets, phones and trips of different kinds to various countries. At this
point they were expressing their love in maximum without restrain.
But the man had
discovered a negative past and present about this lady through intelligent
gathering from his security team and did not make it known her. He had
believed that love covers multitude of sins and his love for her will change
her. They went on and got married and had children and their marriage was
blissful for 5 years.
One day he came back
from work earlier than usual without his car and on getting to door of his
bedroom only to hear voices of his wife discussing with a man stranger in their
bedroom. He waited patiently at the door and listened carefully, and after a long discussion they started making love on their
matrimonial bed. He quietly opened the door, and after looking at them he
quietly closed the door left the house. He waited until his usual time of
returning to come home. When he returned he gave his wife a necklace he had
bought while back from work, he put on the stereo and danced with the wife. He was
so happy than usual, and the wife was perplexed with his joyful attitude. The wife
had prepared his best meal which was already served on the dinning, he
reached out for the dinning and sat down to eat and made the wife sit by his
side.
He took a spoon of his
meal and looked at the wife and said “Honey do you know I love you so much that
I can die to prove it to you; even if I die now I would be happy that while on
earth I fell in love with someone like you”. Still amazed the wife gazed at him
wondering why all these statements about dying and loving, then he told her all
that went on earlier between her and the strange man in their bedroom, how they
planned to poison this meal he was about eating and how they planned to cart
away with all his money and investments and how they plan to get married to
each other in a distant country.
He told her how much he knew about her plans
even before they got married, and how he loved her knowing full well that his
life was a stake. He said to her “am not afraid to die for love, I had loved
you with the whole of my heart even when I knew about your infidelity since the
past five years, I knew today would come and I have prepared my fate for this
day”.
Tears of regrets rolled down the wife’s checks as she started apologising
and pleading for forgiveness. He quickly reached out to the poisoned meal and
ate it while the wife kept shouting to stop him.
He was rushed to the
hospital, thank God he survived but the wife went on to report herself to the
police and she was sent to jail. The husband still forgave her and wanted her
to be released from prison but she refused because of the shame of what she
did. Her regret was that she never knew that someone could love her to the
point of almost dying for her and she threw all that away because of greed.
I don’t know what to say
about this story, if love is blind, ignorant, foolish but in the end like Solomon said in Songs of Solomon "Love is as strong as death".
