STATE FAILURE AND RISE OF TERRORISM

In 2011, Nigeria was ranked number fourteen in the Failed States Index, just below other “havens of stability”-Afghanistan, Somalia, and Iraq! State failure has many definitions, so I will bother the reader with only two short descriptions relevant to the Nigerian situation: [A failed state] is one that is unable to perform its duties on several levels when violence cascades into an all-out internal war, when standards of living massively deteriorate, when the infrastructure of ordinary life decays, and when the greed of ruler overwhelms their responsibilities to better their people and their surroundings. [Failed State are seen in] instances in which central state authority collapses for several years. Economic deprivation and corruption produce and exacerbate financial and social inequities in a population, which in turn fuel political instability. Within this environment, extremists of all kinds particularly religious zealots and others political mischief makers...

Gossip is one major character exhibited by a lot of us unknowingly because most of the time we did not intend to gossip but we find ourselves like involuntary actions doing it. Gossip operates in every sphere of life but most common is the gossip within the workplace or the business arena. Unlike some measurable attitude problems, gossip cannot be measured because nobody would agree that he or she is a gossip, therefore finding out the actual statistics of the population that gossips is quiet difficult. Gossip in recent times has been attributed to the women because of their verbal power, they said “Men think and Women gossip” but that is not the case now because we have also discovered that men also gossip even from the pictrue below. So what would you say about that? Now we begin to understand that gossip is not the resultant effect of verbal power but an attitude problem that has the capacity to influence anyone regardless gender. Gossip is groundless, baseless idle talks an...

By Pastor Sam Adeyemi, edited by Ik Solomon   Supposing you set your alarm to wake you up in the morning, and you are woken up by the alarm, and what you are purposed to do in the morning is to do some exercise, you feel like you’ve been piling up the pounds or the kilos. The alarm goes up, you wake up, you look at the time its 5:30am, it occurs to you that may be you really don’t need to stand up yet, may be you could leave it till tomorrow, and then you check your bed, it really feels very comfortable, and you feel you can do a little bit more minutes of sleep, so you go back to sleep. Ok, the big question is how do you really feel at end of the day? Usually you feel a sense of lose because you know what you could have gained that you wanted to gain that you could not. Will that be a disaster? May be not, not on the immediate but the reality about life is that those decisions either to get up in the morning, or to get some more sleep, or to eat those particular kinds of food t...

The man with HIV who says he had sex with 104 women and girls - BBC NEWS

Eric Aniva was arrested in July on presidential orders after he  admitted having unprotected sex with girls as young as 12   - and keeping quiet about his HIV-positive status.  Aniva says he was hired by the girls' relatives to take part in a sexual initiation ceremony which they believe "shakes off" the girl's childhood "dust" so that she can enter adulthood.  When Malawi's president, Peter Mutharika, ordered the arrest, he wanted Aniva tried for defiling young girls, but no girls came forward to testify against him. By   KelseyWarner   on March 4, 2016 Inside Gov As the final remaining year of the Obama administration is well underway, the legacy that President   Barack Obama   will forge in history remains hotly contested.   Conservatives argue   Obama is the “worst president ever” while   liberals have claimed   he has “done more good for this country than any president before him.” He likely will not play the role of a “lame-duck” president, as the administration has yet to slow down. Obama currently finds himself in the middle of a   heated standoff   with the Republican-led Senate to fill a Supreme Court vacancy. He still pursues a workable   plan to close GuantanamoBay , one of his 2008 campaign promises. When reflecting on Obama’s time in the White House, the f...
